microblading

Microblading at Newport Aesthetics in Newport Beach, California is painless!

It doesn’t matter if you like them arched and feathered or straight and bold, eye brows are arguably the most important facial feature.

What is Microblading?

Microblading (or eyebrow embroidery) is a relatively new, manual method which does not use a normal permanent makeup machine. Manual Microstroking, sometimes referred to as Microblading, Brow Micropigmentation, Manual Technique, Hand Method Eyebrow Permanent Makeup, Feather Brows, 3D-6D Brows, Cosmetic Tattooing and Eyebrow Embroidery, originated in Asia and has become very popular in the last few years all over the world.

How is Microblading performed?

Microblading is done by using a unique hand instrument with a small row of very fine needles that deposit pigment into the dermis with slicing, feathering strokes. The pigment is implanted in the basal membrane, which divides the epidermis from the dermis layer of the skin. This creates very crisp, fine hair strokes that don’t blur after healing like you would experience with a traditional permanent makeup machine.

How long does Microblading take?

Microblading is a manual method used to deposit small amounts of ink in the superficial layer of the skin. Attention to detail is critical, so this takes time. Allow two (2) hours for your initial visit.

How long will my Microblading last?

Up to 3 years. You may need to come in for follow-up enhancements yearly to protect your investment. Fading is natural!

How is the Microblading procedure performed?

The procedure is done using a hand tool, with a prepackaged, sterile, single use “blade” made up of a grouping of needles that are 3x smaller than the needles that would be used in a tattoo machine. With the appropriate amount of pressure, the skin is scored and the pigment is deposited into the epidermis (outermost layer of skin). Think paper-cuts!

Does Microblading hurt?

This is designed to be a gentle procedure with minimal discomfort. The degree of discomfort will depend on several factors, such as if you opt for anesthetics, location of the treatment, and your pain threshold. In the beginning you will feel a scratching feeling while we are marking the shape and design of the brow. A numbing cream is then applied which is absorbed into the skin within a few seconds. Once the cream has absorbed, you will have very little feeling. At Newport Aesthetics, we use prescription-grade numbing cream so reapplication is minimized and you get the highest potency of a topical anesthetic. This is our difference versus our competitors because we have a physician (M.D.) on site who can prescribe the higher dose numbing cream.
